How much does it cost to list my business.

Listing your business is free in the Local Vancouver Business Directory and Making Connections.

Why are there no categories in the Making Connections directory as there are in the Local Vancouver Business directory?

I wanted to leave it up to my visitors to decide if they think their business would benefit from being on Eye On Vancouver.

Having no categories might improve the chances of your business being found and visited by my visitors. The categories in the Local Vancouver Business directory are there out of necessity due to the volume of business listings I have recieved.

If there is a demand for categorization in Making Connections then I will do that when it's necessary.

General Guidelines for listing your business

1) A good headline: The form you will use prompts you to enter the name of your business. Instead you might want to enter a short headline that describes what your business does.
2) Description of your business: Believe it or not I have recieved listings that are missing contact information. I recommend that you be as descriptive of your business as possible. The form you use to add your information is expandable so please don't be constrained by the size of the form itself. You might want to use a text editor to write your description and then copy and past it into the form.
3) Don't forget your contact information: It is important! Even if you don't want an enhanced listing include all the ways a person might want to use to contact your. People might want to get ahold of you so please include this information!
4) Picture or Graphic: The best listings I have recieved include a picture. Uploading a picture or graphic dramatically improves the overall look of your listing. Very often these will be the logo of your business and is what your brand is built around. For instance if you are listing a country pub from the UK having a picture of your pub in it's idyllic country setting would look a whole lot better than no picture at all!
5) Be Natural: A few times I have received a business listing that has a brief description followed by a list of keywords. This is known as "keyword stuffing" and it doesn't work anymore. Besides it looks ugly and it's a turnoff for anybody who reads your business listing.

When you write your description be as natural as possible when describing your business and what you do. Think of your description as if you were having a conversation on the phone with a potential client.
