Steveston Folk Guild presents:
7.30pm Thursday March 17th.
Where: Britannia Heritage Shipyard Chinese Bunkhouse 5180 Westwater Drive, Steveston BC. 7.30pm Tickets. $8 at the door. Willy Blizzard “Authenticity” is the inspiration for the songwriting of Vancouver based indie band Willy Blizzard. A touring acoustic folk trio, they draw on over a century of combined performance experience. They are singer/songwriters who play original alternative roots/folk/country music backed up by “superb vocal harmonies” (L.A. Beat, August 2010) with the warmth of guitar, banjo and stand-up bass. They recently finished touring their album “In From The Cold” throughout B.C. and Alberta, whence L.A. Beat magazine wrote of their show, “they are a cross between Lightfoot, Cockburn and McLauchlan with steel guitars.” The band is fronted by baritone John Hough, whose “mahogany rich voice” (The Province) has enthralled audiences since, well, before the turn of the century. Their songwriting is reminiscent of storytelling, drawing on Canada’s culture, geography, relationships, characters and history. With Willy Blizzard,it”s all about the lyrics, the music speaks for itself. Call 604-272-9294 to reserve a seat This will be a great concert.
